Yoga therapy is the adaptation of yoga practices for people with health considerations and combines traditional yoga with modern medical understanding. Yoga Therapists are experienced yoga teachers who have been medically trained in the physical and emotional aspects of disease, serious injury and illness. Yoga can greatly help towards managing a medical condition and can be used along-side and in support of medical treatment.
Yoga Therapy can be beneficial in the support and alleviation of many different conditions, including: back pain, other physical pain or injury, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart conditions, asthma, diabetes, hyperacidity, IBS, cancer, MS, ME, migraine, insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, fertility issues, weak pelvic floor, menopause, RSI and stress amongst others.
Yoga therapy begins with the taking of a full case history and uses appropriate and specific physical postures, breathing practices, relaxation techniques and meditation to help restore body/mind balance and promote natural healing. The aim of Yoga Therapy is to, over a number of sessions, teach you the practices appropriate to your condition and ultimately empower you to use them to help manage your condition and care for your own health. Contrary to popular myth, you do not have to be fit or flexible to benefit from yoga or yoga therapy.
Over the past few years Jennie has worked with clients with a wide variety of conditions including insomnia, excessive anxiety and panic attacks, IBS, back pain, knee pain, RSI, incontinence, endometriosis, sinusitis, IVF, obesity and high blood pressure and is in the final stages of completing a 2 year diploma in Yoga Therapy with the Yoga Biomedical Trust.

“I saw Jennie for a series of sessions in 2008 when I was in the middle of trying to cope with debilitating insomnia. She was like a guiding light during a really difficult time. She has a lovely energy and is a brilliant listener. She designed two specific tailored sessions for me…one for morning when I was struggling to feel energised and one for evening to help set me up for sleep and also postures to try during the night when I would wake up or not be able to get back to sleep. I had been practicing yoga for a while but found the benefits a bit hit and miss – I loved the way that yoga therapy is designed especially for you to target the issue. I felt a definite improvement after the first few sessions and I truly believe that Jennie’s help was a key reason why I was able to find a deep relaxation and eventually return to restful sleep.” Angela, London
“I thouroughly enjoyed these yoga sessions, my lower back problem is now much better, Jennie is a fantastic teacher and has a very calming presence, thank you for all your expert advice! “Lenia, London
